Enough stroke or not

Sometimes I get offers that I can not resist, OK they might not always match the size of my walletal area at the time, but there is always a way around.

When I got an offer to buy this WL stroker engine I just had to have, you know that feeling, nah?
Now my problem is I don`t feel like I want to tear the motor out of either my "not so dirty nine" nor my bobber, they both work great and have been faithful for several years now (knock wood).

A problem which leads towards another costly conclusion, still the answer is quite obvious;
I need to get hold of another 45" project, preferably a late thirties, arghh why do I never learn.
To make sure I do not forget the previous statement I placed the engine where I need to pass it every time I enter my house.

Some tech. details;
Truett & osborne flywheels, WLDR cams running in sportster needle bearings, pop up pistons and heads relieved to match pistons, larger valves, M74B Linkert modified to work with the engine flow, Fairbanks magneto etc. etc.
I need a light chassis and a gearbox, NOW!

Henderson De-luxe

Have just spent some time looking trough a bunch of photos on the harddisk when this old photo showing my Hendersons as "before" surfaced. The pic is actually taken the same day as I arrived home with the bike having begged for 17 years to get it, yeah its true. 17 years. My Henderson was stored outside for 25 years under a stairway not far from the sea, oh well that is now all forgotten.

Coincidences?

I`ve always heard that there was built special 8 valve Harley`s in Sweden way back where they used Rudge 4 valve heads with home turned cylinders.
Hmmm, 8 valve Harley just the tought is a thrill.

Was fortunate at Ekeberg swap meet getting a Rudge 4 valve head to play with.
Didn`t get home until today, have a guess what was my first "to do".

Its just amazing, the Rudge and the Harley IOE from late 24 (JDCA/JDCB) up to 29 J & JD share the exact same dimensions between cylinder / head bolts centers, oh yeah even the same dimensions of bolts.
A plan is getting borned, watch out :-).

Henderson De-luxe gearbox repair

OK, having finally got my Henderson on the road last year I soon realised I had a problem with heat building up in the gearbox area.
God grief!!!
Until last week nothing happened, but hey spring is here, better get started.
Got motor pulled out and into the workshop. After splitting the cases I realised the scenario was worse than expected. One of the bushings for the gearbox output shaft had got severely fu¤#"¤¤ed.
Now all parts are remade and I am getting everything back together.

Cases are splitted.

Removed gearbox internals.

gearbox output shaft with bewel gear and the fu%"¤¤%ed bushing next to the new one.

Will try to post some more pics when reassembling.

My Harley 27 JD

Did anyone see that optional steering brake control before?
Its made by Carmen Werke in Germany, marked "Harley" underneath the piece connected to the fuel tank. Found in Sweden.
Story goes the Swedish general agent for import got this made in the late twenties.

My boardtrack racer project # 2

Here is a shoot of my board track racer project that now will get 1`st priority after having completed the Henderson.

Motor for my next project

Have just started my Henderson engine. Have not run since -51. The sound was really snappy and chrisp. Imagine rolling a new Henderson out of the shop back in -27. You would for sure be the local hero when everyone else in town had to pedal on their bicycles to get anywhere about.
